Pit and Fissure Sealants

Pit and fissure sealants are recommended for teeth that have very deep grooves on the chewing surface. Deep groves in teeth are prone to cavities because they are difficult to keep clean. Placing sealants is a painless procedure wherein a plastic material is flowed into the grooves and cured with a light forming a hard protective cover on the tooth surface. Sealants protect the tooth from decay starting to develop in the grooves. This is a simple preventive service, commonly provided to pediatric patients.
